Cherell Banks is a community organizer and advocate focused on youth justice, nonviolence, and community empowerment in Hartford. As a Community Organizer for Education & Equity at the Blue Hills Civic Association (BHCA), she uses her expertise in human services to support local initiatives.

Cherell holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and is a Level 1 Kingian Certified Trainer. She led Connecticut’s first “Thinking Nonviolence Lab” in a Hartford High School for three years. She is a strong advocate for juvenile justice reform, she has volunteered with the Hartford Juvenile Review Board and is a 2017 alum of the Tow Youth Justice Institute.

Mz. Banks is committed to empowering youth by integrating their voices into program design and promoting leadership and civic engagement. She also supports the BHCA Parent Power group, working to strengthen families and communities.
