Dr. Lisa Worth Huber is a prominent leader in peace education, currently serving as President of the National Peace Academy. She is actively involved with the Global Peace Education Network (G-PEN), collaborating with UNESCO, and serves on the Advisory Council for the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence, where she mentors teaching artists pursuing certification in Kingian Nonviolence.
Dr. Huber designed and implemented Connecticut’s first accredited MA program in Peace and Conflict Transformation, and she was part of the international Launch Team for the Global Sustainability Fellows program. As a trainer for the UnGUN Institute, she focuses on collective trauma healing through the arts.
In addition to her leadership roles, she is an adjunct professor of Sociology at Western Connecticut State University and previously served as Academic Director for the MA program in Writing and Oral Traditions. A consultant and trainer, she utilizes various dialogue and peacebuilding practices, including Bohmian Dialogue and Kingian Nonviolence.
Dr. Huber is also a participatory action researcher, concentrating on empathy development, a key skill for fostering a compassionate global society. With decades of experience as a teaching artist, she has worked in diverse settings, including universities, K-12 classrooms, homeless shelters, and safe houses. She was the first recipient of the Frank McCourt Prize for Excellence in Teaching.
Her work integrates the arts into nonviolence and peacebuilding initiatives, helping to elevate voices, address injustices, heal trauma, nurture compassion, and inspire creative activism and ecological stewardship.
