Pastor John Lewis is a prominent community leader, pastor, and advocate for nonviolence based in New Haven, CT. He is the founder of Lewis and Associates LLC and serves as the Director of Law Enforcement & Community Engagement for the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence (CTCN). Currently, he is the Senior Pastor of Christ New Testament Church, where he also established Life Center Ministries and Helping Hands Ministry.
With a wealth of leadership experience, Pastor Lewis has held various roles, including Director of Outreach, Security, and Prison Ministries. He previously served as the Executive Director of the H.O.S.T.S. Association (Help Our Society to Survive) from 1984 to 1994, a program known for its impactful community service, which later merged with Youth Continuum.
He is active in several community initiatives, including the Ambassador’s Program alongside Rev. Keith King and serves as the outreach chair for the New Haven Clergy Association. Additionally, he is affiliated with organizations such as the Christian Community Commission and the Brotherhood Leadership Summit.
As a certified Fatherhood Facilitator with the national Fatherhood Initiative, Pastor Lewis has led multiple Kingian Nonviolence trainings for police departments, including those in New Britain, New Haven, and Yale. His recent appointment to the Advisory Committee on Community Policing (AACP) by Chief Higgins of the Yale University Police Department underscores his commitment to fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community.
