Rev. Sonya Green is an ordained minister currently serving as an Associate Minister at Union Baptist Church in Hartford, Connecticut. With a lifelong commitment to peace building, she is a certified Level 1 Trainer in Kingian Nonviolence and holds the position of Board Chair at the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence.
Sonya is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford and Andover Newton Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. Her work focuses on creating programs that promote cultural appreciation and racial reconciliation within public and independent schools, as well as in diverse community and faith-based settings. She is dedicated to building “The Beloved Community,” a vision rooted in justice and love.
In addition to her ministerial work, Sonya is pursuing a call to spiritual care through chaplaincy. She serves as a Chaplain at Connecticut Children’s Hospital and as a Bridge Minister at Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford. As a proud mother of six adult children, she also enjoys her roles as a mother-in-law and grandmother.
