CTCN Executive Director, Victoria Christgau, and Advisor Dr. Arthur Romano (author of Racial Justice and Nonviolence Education) recently traveled to Tuskegee, Alabama, for a memorable visit with CTCN’s Honorary Board Chair, the legendary civil rights leader Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr., and his wife, Ms. Kate LaFayette. We had the distinct privilege of spending several hours with the LaFayettes’ over the course of two days, engaging in deep conversations filled with stories and reflections from the Selma Movement and beyond.
Dr. LaFayette, with his vibrant wisdom on nonviolence, encouraged us to keep moving forward—holding firm to the rich legacy of the movement and drawing strength in the face of adversity. He reminded us that by staying in control of ourselves, we can better respond to the challenges around us. Dr. LaFayette is a living embodiment of this balance. We are profoundly grateful for this unforgettable and meaningful visit.
