ThinKING Youth Prepare Meals for Community

ThinKING Youth Nonviolence Leaders from CREC Academy of Areospace and Engineering the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts came together to make meals for the community of underserved people on upper Albany Ave. Hartford, CT in March of 20205 The day was exhilarating and over 90 meals were provided to the neighborhood.

As a part of our robust youth programming, leadership and civic engagement is encouraged. Through our Saturday Meetups, funded in part by CREC’s Project Prevent and the Wallace Foundation’s Community Wealth Partners, youth enrolled in the course request projects that they want to do. Feeding the community was a high priority on their list. Echoing the clarion call of Dr. Martin Luther King, who in his Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 said “ I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits.”
